Frequently asked questions

How does the diff checker compare texts?

It uses the Myers diff algorithm — the same approach behind Git and GNU diff — to find the smallest set of line additions and removals that turns the original into the changed text. Lines that changed slightly also get word-level highlights.

What do "ignore case" and "ignore whitespace" do?

Ignore case treats "Hello" and "hello" as the same line. Ignore whitespace collapses runs of spaces and tabs and trims line ends, so re-indented or re-spaced lines are not reported as changes.

Can I compare large files or code?

Yes. The diff runs in your browser and handles several thousand lines comfortably — paste source code, config files, CSV data, contracts or articles. Use the unified view for a compact, Git-style output.

Is the text I compare kept private?

Yes. Both texts are compared locally on your device and are never uploaded, logged or stored.
