Frequently asked questions
What is lorem ipsum?
Lorem ipsum is scrambled Latin placeholder text derived from Cicero's "De Finibus Bonorum et Malorum" (45 BC). Designers and developers use it to fill layouts so the focus stays on typography and design rather than the words.
Why use placeholder text instead of real copy?
Readable text distracts reviewers into editing the words. Lorem ipsum has a natural-looking distribution of letters and word lengths, so it shows how real content will flow without drawing attention to itself.
Can I get lorem ipsum as HTML?
Yes. Switch the output format to HTML and each paragraph is wrapped in <p> tags, ready to paste into a web page, CMS or email template.
Is the generated text free to use?
Yes. Lorem ipsum is public-domain filler text — use it freely in mockups, prototypes, themes and templates, commercial or personal.
